James Benning é um cineasta e educador independente americano. Ao longo de sua carreira de mais de 40 anos, Benning fez inúmeros filmes e instalações que foram exibidos nos mais importantes festivais e museus em todo o mundo. Desde 1987 leciona no California Institute of Arts.
